a run for stanno

on saturday 25 september i will be running the fifty or so miles from st james park, exeter to huish park, yeovil in memory of the late adam stansfield.  adam was probably the hardest working exeter player i have ever seen and always a willing runner.  with this in mind it seemed wholly appropriate to mark his passing in this way.

the run is in aid of cancer research, an extremely worthwhile cause and one particularly appropriate given that adam sadly succumbed to bowel cancer following diagnosis in april.  this blog will be the place at which i will update those good enough to sponsor me with how i am getting on with training, any further fundraising activities and ultimately where you can read about the day itself.

bryant 'done in': VLM2010
from a practical perspective i have just terrified myself having read some 'quick' training programmes for ultra marathons (which this challenge would certainly classify itself as).  please think of me this weekend inparticular when you're tucking into a fry up or a couple of pints, 'allegedly' i will be spending EIGHT, yes eight hours this weekend running but hey its a small gesture to show my gratitude and commemorate a wonderful human being.

i don't have much else to add at this time other than to say if you are reading this, you've probably sponsored me and for that i am extremely grateful.  your kindness and generosity demonstrates the high regard in which adam was held by football supporters across the country but also those that are so quick to label any football fan as a hooligan or similar is very much mistaken.
